vic live lounge

I got to play the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. It was incredible!

It’s always been a huge target for me. When I was younger, I knew there was a slim chance of me ever getting to do it, but I thought if I didn’t try, I certainly wouldn’t make it. I think as a session musician, it’s one of the biggest and best gigs you can do.

I’ve given it six years, a lot of hard work and a bit of luck, and bloody hell I’ve made it!

I got to go in with MNEK and Zara Larsson about six months ago and it blew my mind. This time I knew a little more about what to expect, but it still was every bit as special.

We smashed the tunes, everyone really brought their A game and the videos that came out were perfect.

There are a handful of moments in my career that I remember thinking ‘This is why I do music’. This was one of those. I feel so ridiculously lucky, and I’m still buzzing.

Keep an eye out for a VLOG coming soon of my experience.

Click the links below to for all the times I’ve been in the Live Lounge, with the first three being the latest time. Headphone usage preferred!

A day after returning from my amazing holiday in Greece I had to hop on a plane to Amsterdam for a three day writing camp held by Spinnin’ Records and Music All Stars Publishing . Spinnin’ look after huge artists such as Avcii, Martin Garrix and Tiesto so when they asked to have me I jumped on it straight away!

Although I had just been out there a few weeks before to record a very exciting track with the amazing Kriss Kross guys (who are signed to Spinnin’ as well), I was back out to work with more of their amazing producers and writers. We did two sessions a day the morning session, which was from 9.30-3pm with a break for lunch, and the evening session, which was from 3pm-9pm with a break for dinner. Dinner was prepared by an amazing chef at the studio every night. I thought this was a really nice touch because it meant everyone could eat together and socialize outside of the studio.

It was incredible to be thrown into a camp with loads of super talented people who I have never worked with before. As a songwriter it was great for me to sharpen up my lyrics and melodies too.

Check out the behind the scenes below. See ya on the next trip! Ax
